There are 3 ways to edit data in Microsoft Excel file from NiceForm:
- Use Table
- Use Database Navigator and Edit Fields
- Use VB Script
In this post I will describe the first two options since they are the easiest and do not require any programming knowledge. For both options I will use the same Excel file (“Sample.xls”). This is a simple file with only one sheet that contains 5 columns (fields) with some data.
First you have to create new form with connection to the database (Excel file). Here is a short video showing how you can do that. Note that I used ODBC connection since that is the only way to get read-write access to the file.
You will have to close NiceForm and every other application that might have Excel file in use and open the designed form in run mode because otherwise Excel file cannot be opened in read-write mode. You can do this by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer. After that you can add and edit data in the table. Here is a short video showing that:
Use Database Navigator and Edit Fields
First we have to design the form. I will use the same ODBC data source I used in the previous sample.
Next we close NiceForm and open the form by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer. Now we can add and edit data.
